Telecom equipment producer Optiemus Infracom added that it intends to contribute around Rs 140 crore in a drone-as-a-service model under its drone-making subsidiary, focusing on an income of Rs 600-900 crore toward the end of calendar 2025.

 

The organization had framed an subsidiary Optiemus Unmanned Systems (OUS) in 2023 with an preliminary funding of Rs 25 crore to design drones. OUS, on Thursday, reported a range of robots for agricultural and mapping use-cases. The organization said it will adjust a service model for its drone business, where it will prepare 6000 pilots to deal with a fleet of 5000 robots by the end of 2025.

 

“We have decided to march on a unique business model for our drone business and this is based on our ground-level research, which called out issues like lack of know-how on operating drones, scarcity of spare parts etc,” said Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairman, Optiemus Infracom.

 

“The potential for this business is huge given the benefits it serves; we are set to leverage our expertise in drone technology to offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for agricultural and defense needs,” he added.

 

OUS has focused on to accomplish at least 65% local value addition in its drones, with plans to expand it to 75% toward the ongoing monetary year. The organization added it has already indigenised various components such as the power distribution board, anti-spark switch, flight controller, airframe, and motor.
